In Tschaval, a hamlet of Gressoney‑La‑Trinité at the upper end of the valley, the foliage takes on a special charm. The larch forests that surround the Lys stream and the slopes of Monte Rosa light up in yellows and oranges. As you walk along the leaf‑covered paths, you will smell resin and the fresh mountain breeze. During a walk you can observe silver firs, birches and edelweiss, and with a bit of luck spot marmots, ermines or hares in the meadows. On the shores of the small alpine lakes, the majestic peaks reflect in the calm waters, creating a natural picture of rare beauty.
What to do during the foliage
Hikes in the larch forests: follow the trails leading to the Lys springs or to Colle Salza. Walking among the golden larches and clear streams will immerse you completely in nature.
Photography and meditation: bring your camera or simply sit along the path to contemplate the autumn colors. The foliage offers a unique opportunity to capture memorable shots and unwind.
Visit the Walser villages: reach on foot the ancient villages of Biel or Alpenzù, where wooden houses tell the story of the Walser community and the rooftops glow red and gold under the larches.
